The project is largley based on clear priorities spelled out for the (economic) development of Cambodia society, as well as on a realistic assessment on what is feasible to undertake. Also in relation to the Sida development agenda it may be seen as highly relevant with a focus on poverty alleviation and related basic needs issue.

Alignment/Composition of Finance Evaluation The sissue of sustainability was considered unsatisfactory mainly because of fianacial problems. In regard to this, the report says that in order for CDRI to become a stable research institute with a long-term perspectiv, financial sustainability must be a priority and funding basis has to be diversified. At the moment of evaluation, Sida supposes that the fianacial situation of CDRI is highly dependent on Sida's funding. To resovle this, Sida suggested CDRI to increasingly undertake research requests from Cambodia-based donors and other external clients.
